Information we collect

WPMRace is designed to work without requiring an account. The main typing test runs in your browser and measures typing speed, accuracy, mistakes, consistency, selected test mode, and completion time. Personal typing history, preferences, theme choices, and local records may be stored in your browser storage so the app can remember your settings between visits. Note that storing your history locally does not mean nothing is measured: see Cookies, ads, and analytics below for what a completed test reports to our analytics provider.

If you use optional features such as global leaderboard submission, challenge links, or multiplayer race links, we may process the nickname, score, test metadata, race identifier, and timing data needed to provide those features. Please avoid entering sensitive personal information as your nickname.

Cookies, ads, and analytics

WPMRace may display advertising through Google AdSense or similar ad platforms. Advertising providers may use cookies, device identifiers, IP address, browser information, and page interaction signals to deliver, limit, and measure ads. Google and its partners may use cookies to personalize or measure advertising where allowed by law and user settings.

As a third-party vendor, Google uses cookies (including the DoubleClick cookie) to serve ads based on your prior visits to this and other websites. You can learn how Google uses information from sites that use its services in Google’s Privacy & Terms. Third-party vendors and ad networks may also serve ads on WPMRace and set their own cookies.

WPMRace uses Google Analytics 4 on every page to understand page performance, errors, traffic sources, and feature usage. These signals help us improve loading speed, accessibility, and test reliability. Server logs are used for the same purposes.

What analytics receives about your test. When you finish a typing test, the site reports the result of that test — the score figure, the keystrokes-per-hour figure, the test type, and how reliable the result was rated — to Google Analytics. This happens for every completed test, whether or not you submit anything to the leaderboard. It is not linked to your name or to an account, and it is separate from the public leaderboard, which only ever shows a score you chose to submit.

Analytics runs by default. Aggregate measurement is active when you arrive, and choosing “Essential Only” in the cookie banner does not switch it off — that choice controls advertising personalisation, which stays disabled unless you accept it. If you want to prevent analytics entirely, use a browser setting, tracking-protection feature, or extension that blocks it, or the Google Analytics opt-out add-on.

How we use information

• To calculate WPM, accuracy, mistakes, and typing test results.
• To save local preferences such as language, theme, sound, and accessibility settings.
• To operate optional leaderboard, challenge, and race features.
• To detect abuse, spam, automated submissions, and service errors.
• To show and measure advertising that supports the free typing tool.

Data sharing

We do not sell personal information. We may share limited technical data with service providers that host, secure, analyze, or monetize the site, including hosting platforms, database providers, security services, and advertising partners. These providers process information according to their own terms and privacy policies.

Your choices

You can clear local WPMRace data from your browser settings at any time. Analytics measurement is on by default and is not disabled by the “Essential Only” banner choice; to stop it, use a tracking-protection setting, extension, or the Google Analytics opt-out add-on linked above. You can also use browser controls, cookie settings, and privacy extensions to limit cookies. To manage personalized advertising, you can opt out of Google’s use of cookies for ad personalization in your Google Ads Settings, and opt out of personalized ads from participating third-party vendors at aboutads.info/choices or, in the EU, youronlinechoices.eu. If you submitted a public score and want to request removal, contact us with enough detail to identify the entry.
